Free Cataract Surgery Programme

Cataract is a common eye disease for the elderly. Generally speaking, elderly have to wait for three to five years to conduct the cataract surgery at public hospitals and the waiting time was recently extended to almost 10 years at Kowloon East Cluster. To avoid turning into glaucoma or blind because of the delay in treatment, the Haven of Hope has launched the “Free Cataract Surgery Programme” for the elderly since June 2008.

Who We Serve

• Elderly aged 65 or above,
• On the waiting list at Hospital Authority for the cataract surgery and,
• Assessed by doctor with the need to have cataract surgery

• Drugs Consultation
• Follow up by social worker
• Care before and after the operation
