With our service slogan “With Love, We Serve and Care”, the staff of the Haven of Hope uphold this spirit and serve people in need with selfless love. All staff of the Haven of Hope join hands together to serve the people in the community so that the lives of those serving and being served are enriched.
How do our colleagues serve people with love? What difficulties have staff members encountered? What do they feel while serving others? The following are some comments from our staff.

It is an exciting and wonderful experience for me to meet with God. In the past twelve years, I have been serving God in the Haven of Hope through my working position, and He has changed my life gradually.
In the summer of 1998, the Hospital Authority assigned me as the Head teacher of the last class of the Haven of Hope (Sister Annie Skau Berntsen ) Nursing School. This made a significant experience in my life and I have experienced God more deeply in the Haven of Hope.

I joined Haven of Hope Sunnyside School in 2005 and have taught there for five years. As a teacher serving severely mentally impaired (SMI) students, I have mixed feelings. To me, the potential of mentally impaired children is unlimited. All they lack is an opportunity. If we put in extra efforts to nurture them, they can develop their potential and grow up happily.More

I have been working in Haven of Hope Nursing Home for 11 years. I still remember that many years ago, my father was admitted to a hospital for a surgery on gastric cancer. As the work place of my brother was near the hospital (just about ten minutes by taxi), he would cook two dishes and one soup during his free time and then bring them to the hospital. As there was no need for my father to avoid any specific foods, and he could eat whatever he liked, my brother was just like a special cook serving him. Every time I was off work, I would visit him and sometimes, I cooked some of his favourite dishes too. Over time the medical staff and I developed a close relationship. Though my dad finally passed away, other family members and I really appreciated the care of the medical staff. From that time onwards, I have come to realise the importance of love and care for our service users.More

Every doctor chose their career as a doctor for different reasons. One of my reasons was simple – my academic results were good enough for me to go to medical school. Frankly speaking, the days at medical school were not particularly interesting. There was so much to study and targets seemed to be so out of reach. Teachers at medical school were great achievers in their own field, yet there were so few that had impressed me as a person. More

In their experience handicapped persons are pure, loving and sincere, with different characteristics and potential. Both of them enjoy living with their service users. More
